Luxor - LAN Setup

Tabs

Read Article

A direct connection between the controller and the network equipment can provide a more reliable connection. When planning for a CAT 5, 5e, or 6 connection between the router and a Luxor, your maximum distance is 300 feet. If a longer distance is required, the use of a repeater is necessary. This is standard protocol for Cat cables and has nothing to do with the hardware or setup of the Luxor.  A LAN adapter is pre-installed into the Luxor controller. Insert Ethernet cable into LAN port to begin LAN connection process by following the steps below.

Step 1

From the Home screen, navigate to the Setup screen using the scroll wheel.

Step 2

Scroll to and select LAN.

Step 3

The LAN status screen will display as “Connected” when a Cat 5/5e/6 connection is made between the LAN module and the network device.

Troubleshooting Connection
Test Description
Visual Inspection Look for any visible damage like kinks or cuts, and ensure the connectors are properly plugged in.
Computer/Laptop Test Plug the cable into a computer and a router/modem or switch.
Ethernet Port LEDs

Check the Ethernet port LEDs on both ends (usually near the RJ45 jack):

  • Blinking light: indicates a working connection.
  • No light: the cable might be bad or unplugged.
Type of cable Make sure you are using the necessary CAT5, 5e, or 6 cable, not RJ-12 reversed cable used for the facepack.
LED Indicator Lights

The Ethernet port on the LAN module has two status LEDs that provide connection information. Two additional LEDs provide the same information for the service processor network management port.
