Location

Debora Carl Landscape Design is a San Diego firm specializing in outdoor living spaces appropriate to California’s Mediterranean climate. The firm’s office space and 1.5 acre landscape is perched on a wild canyon with a bocce ball court, a fire pit, and thriving garden. The canyon backdrop offers the perfect setting for Debora to showcase her creative landscape designs.

The Challenge

Having an onsite space to experiment with different plant compositions and technology allows Debora to show her clients the latest landscaping innovations. Debora said, “I design with clients in mind through elegantly styled, tranquil, and harmonious spaces. Lighting adds that soft touch to enhance the design and bring the night to life.” When Debora built her office in 2000, she installed FX Luminaire incandescent fixtures throughout her garden. Now that LED lighting is the technology of choice, Debora wants to give her clients an accurate idea of what LED lights and color temperatures look like using the fixtures in her garden.

The Solution

Debora turned to the ZD MR-16 drop-in LED lamps to easily convert her incandescent fixtures to energy-efficient LED fixtures. With the switch to LED MR-16 lamps, Debora can now connect a Luxor ZD transformer to add zoning, dimming, and Wi-Fi control capabilities. When redesigning her clients’ gardens, Debora can use the Luxor ZD MR-16 drop-in lamps to convert any brand of low voltage lighting fixtures to LED with Luxor control, and the clients can keep their existing fixtures. This keeps the overall project cost lower, so her clients can splurge on other details.

The Result

Now that Debora has switched her incandescent MR-16 lamps to LED MR-16 lamps she is saving energy and is able to show her clients the benefits and aesthetics of LED lighting with Luxor technology. Debora said, “Clients need to experience the look and feel of my style to understand what their garden will be like at all times, throughout the day or night. Now that I am using LEDs exclusively in my designs, the switch in my demonstration garden was a necessity.”
